Science Outside the Lab brings a small cohort of graduate student scientists and engineers to Washington, D.C. to explore the relationships among science, innovation, and policy. This customized one week version is sponsored by the NSF funded Nanotechnology Collaborative Infrastructure Southwest (NCI-SW) and will be led by Dr. Jameson Wetmore. Program dates are June 4 – 10, 2017 and applications deadline is March 10, 2017.

Duke University is the lead for the Center for Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology, which is a collaboration involving NNCI sites Virginia Tech and Stanford University.

Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs are an excellent way for undergraduates to become acquainted with scientific research and graduate student life. Most NNCI sites are offering REU-like programs for summer 2018 as part of their education and outreach efforts.

The National Science Foundation and the National Nanotechnology Initiative are excited to continue Generation Nano: Small Science, Superheroes! This competition asks high school students to choose a societal area to focus on and then design nanotechnology-enabled gear for an original superhero.

The Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology at Georgia Tech has announced the winners for the 2016 Fall Seed Grant Awards. The primary purpose of the IEN Seed Grant is to give first or second year graduate students in various disciplines working on original and un-funded research in micro- and nano-scale projects the opportunity to access the most advanced academic cleanroom space in the Southeast.
