Catalytic converters and Nanocatalysts

This two part lesson with an optional third lesson is designed to explore the reactions involved in catalytic converters and the importance of nanocatalysts in the reactions. In Part 1, students will create alginate MnO2 catalytic spheres and cylinders. In Part 2, they will use the structures to determine their reaction times. Student activities can be done as guided or independent inquiry.
