Mixtures and Nanotechnology Classification of Mixtures and Particle Size

The purpose of this unit is to help students make the connection that the classification of mixtures is based on the size of particles. Through a series of activities using images of mixtures, students will learn that the classification of mixtures depends on the size of particles that make them up and how these particles are distributed with the mixture. The activity connects to the nanoscale as the size of particles of solutions, colloids and suspensions are on the nanoscale.
